Would you like to be our neighbor?

July 10, 2017

As long-time readers are aware, we’ve tried for many years to obtain the extra land we needed to secure our grass-farming future at Sap Bush Hollow Farm.

Last year, a neighbor from whom we’ve rented land for many years decided to sell her farm.  To make sure the land stayed in agriculture, she asked us to buy it.

And now we have an extra farm house on the property.

As of August 1, 2017, we will be making this home, which we affectionately call Highland House, available for long-term rental.

Here are the details:

Our livestock are your nearest neighbors, and we maintain organic pastures.  No chemicals!

Monthly rent is $1500, and we ask for a 1-year lease.  Utilities, lawn care & snow removal not included.

No washer and dryer, although all necessary hook-ups are in place.

Security deposit is $1500, plus $500 security deposit for each additional pet.

> 2600 square feet

Property has its own well with fantastic drinking water.

I hope you find good tenants. It looks like an awesome house.

Great house. Ever consider Airbnb’ing it instead? Bill and Cherie at White Flint Farm do that (http://whiteflintfarm.com/the-old-house-farmstay/) and it’s a lovely way for city folk to experience farm life, if just for a week…

Indeed, we have considered it, Aimee. Trouble is, we’ve just got our plates full with the cafe/farm store and the full-time farm, all the value-added and the writing. We looked at it many times. At this point, we’d welcome someone else taking on the venture if they wanted to, but we don’t feel we can do a good job with it ourselves at this point.
