How do you store the appricots? We tried that one year and it was tasty, but I was just not sure about long term storage. We just dehydrated them, no added chemicals.

If you store in the fridge, you will have months. If you store in freezer, indefinitely. If you put them in an airtight container at room temp, they will keep til moldy :-). The better the job you’ve done dehydrating, the longer the room temp storage. Ours have never lasted long enough for their to be a storage issue!

Lucky! There was a late freeze here (like usually, actually- the rare years we get apricots (last year) are extra special), so none this year.. You’ve got the same dehydrator we’ve got, bu I notice y ou keep it in the kitchen. Is yours quiet? Or maybe you’re better able to ignore it? I keep mine going in the garage because the droning of the fan dries me nuts. Do you know if you can dampen the sound?

You have a beautiful kitchen, too, by the way!

It IS loud. But I have a confession: that “kitchen” you see with my dehydrator is actually my office, where I can’t hear it in the rest if my house. When we repaired that part of the house to make it my office, we left the kitchen infrastructure in tact…. Very helpful for someone who writes cookbooks…

Ahh. What a great office, then! and darn- I was hoping there was a way to make it quieter. Oh well- it’s whirring away in the garage right now and I can’t hear it, so that works. As long as my husband isn’t sanding or cutting lumber, that is! 😉
