Our little community of West Fulton is saddened that our post master, Cathy, is finally retiring. All day long yesterday, folks have been dropping by to bring homemade gifts — handmade inlaid cutting boards, sculptures of copper and stone, honey and maple syrup. We brought her a care package with flowers, soaps and candles, Saoirse made her some candied nuts, and we joined the well-wishers.
It is amazing how important the post master is to our community. Her daily patience with our questions, her willingness to help us out when we are in a rush, or to call our homes when we leave behind our valuables or need further shipping research done. She keeps up the bulletin board about our community happenings, keeps us in-the-know about who needs help, and just greets us warmly when we stagger in.
Thank you, Cathy. You will be missed. We wish you good health and great joys.
