The meat chickens have all been processed, the pigs have gone to slaughter, and our little farm valley is quiet, save for the echoes of the turkey calls, and the occassional bleat of a ewe (the cattle are generally pretty quiet). Our final farmers’ market took place this weekend, and we have been slowly cleaning up and packing away. My weekends now will go to a few speaking events, an occassional homeschool field trip, and to lots of knitting and reading by the fire. It is a little sad to see it all stowed away, but a great relief, too. Now we will begin to catch up on the rest we’ve postponed for the last six months. (Of course, there is still the flurry of Thanksgiving turkeys to be reckoned with…but we’ve got a few weeks before that hits!)
