Reminds me of a favorite family story. My mother at age 6 (now 95 yo) was stuck in the mud while riding in her new wagon. Her brother hence referred to her as “old stick-in-the-mud,” a nickname later shortened to Stick. She never lost that nickname, was forever known as Stick to her siblings, and is still lovingly called Aunt Stick by nieces and nephews. The greatgrandsons love the story, but Grandma Stick just does not seem right to them.
