Samhain is a time when our family honors the animals who give their lives for us, and the loved ones who have gone before us. Samhain Stew takes its name from the fact that we make sure every species of animal’s bones (that we raise here on the farm) are simmered into the broth base for the stew. We eat it each year with mindful gratitude for every critter we raise. And then we party with the ghosts!
Many of us have lost loved ones this year. There will be a Samhain altar on the front patio of the cafe to honor those who have passed. Please feel free to come by to add a momento to the altar, or to spend a few minutes sending loving greetings to someone you have lost. All proceeds from today’s cafe meals will be passed along to the family of Ron Cleeve, our beloved friend and customer, who passed away this month.
Please come to be grateful, and to joyfully celebrate both life and death. And to feast and have fun!
Tailgating: If there are no tables available, we are now welcoming customers to have a tailgate party in the parking lot. Please review the menu online at sapbushfarmstore.com, then send one person from your car in to place the order and give us a license plate/car description that we can add to your ticket. Let us know whether you would like “for here” plates, or to-go packaging. We will bring your meal to your car. If you choose “for here” plates, please bring your dishes in when you are finished.
