We couldn’t send our fashion-loving daughters down to NYC for a month to study clothing design and construction without taking a few field trips into the depths of one of the fashion savviest metropolises in the world. New York doesn’t just do new fashion. It does what Saoirse and Ula love best, which is second-hand, or vintage, like nobody’s business. On our last visit with them, they had an entire day mapped out to look at what was happening on the vintage scene.
And here, on the right, is my favorite piece.
Please don’t ask me to tell you the price. I was so gob-smacked, seeing it presented as a stand-alone centerpiece in a high-fashion vintage men’s clothing boutique, that I actually forgot to look at the tag. Okay, that was one reason I forgot to look. I think the other is that my instinct when seeing one of these coats thrown in the middle of the house is to start screaming about keeping barn clothes in the mudroom…It is not to grab a sleeve, start oohing and aaahing over the design and check the price tag.
Well. Anyhow. This week I thought I’d remind all you farmers out there how very very fashion-forward you are. Next time your partner chastises you for looking like you just walked out of the barn, show them this pic.
Have a great week!

Love it! Maybe you can start another income stream by providing pre-worn work clothes to New York City vintage shops?

Our clothes ROT before we discard them ;-)! I don’t think there’s much room for that…unless we are willing to surrender them sooner and replace with new…Not sure we could emotionally cope??
