People:
Farm production:
As this is a family farm, all but one of the workers comprise a domestic unit. This means that, when close proximity is required, those tasks must be delegated to household members and residential employees living in the domestic unit. There is currently one employee who is not “in residence.” When social distance cannot be maintained with this employee, all persons involved must wear face coverings.
Only members of the domestic unit may occupy tightly confined spaces. If the non-residential employee needs to come into the space, face masks are required. All family members and employees are direct to wash hands before eating or drinking, after using the bathroom, as well as before and after touching their face.
Retail:
Farm retail products have now been moved to online sales. Customers may have products shipped, or available for pick-up through our no-contact self-serve shed. Only one customer at a time is permitted in the self-serve shed, and masks are required. A sign to this effect is posted on the door.
Farm-direct sales will happen at a register where workers stand six feet back from the customer, behind a plexiglass shield. In addition, employees are required to wear masks during retail hours. Indoors, only one take-out customer is permitted in the building at a time.
Farm Visitors:
The farm is not open to visitation without appointment. Visitors are required to wear masks when engaging with farm staff. Farm guests are notified of this policy by email prior to arrival. All farm visitors are required to sign in and complete a brief health screening. Visitor policy will be posted at all entrances.
The farm will maintain a daily visit log, kept by Kate Batchelder, herd manager.
Retail Visitors:
Maximum occupancy of our retail space is 22 customers. Therefore, the restaurant will only permit 10 diners at a time, with six feet of space between tables. Plexiglass table shields are available for counter customers, and for any customers who wish to dine together who are not members of the same domestic unit. Only one take out or retail customer will be permitted in the building at a time. Customers are required to wear masks when addressing staff. These rules are posted at the building entrance.
PLACES:
Face masks are available to all employees at no cost. The farm keeps replacement masks at the cafe should anyone require one. Since our current staff includes 8 individuals, we have acquired 3 cloth masks per person. Employees are responsible for laundering these masks on a regular basis. Masks will be replaced every two months through the NYS Ag and Markets cloth face coverings and hand sanitizer distribution service. We will acquire an additional 12 face coverings to be allocated to visitors who need masks.
Face coverings must be cleaned or replaced after use or when damaged or soiled. They may not be shared, and should be properly stored or discarded.
At the end of each work day, employees shall hand wash their cloth face covering using warm water and detergent, according to CDC guidance..
Employees are directed to wear gloves when touching shared surfaces and objects such as cafe counters, retail freezers, farm machinery or equipment, or point of sale equipment. As an alternative, employees may choose to wash their hands or apply hand sanitizer after having contact with these surfaces.
Cleaning logs have been mounted to clip boards and assigned to public restrooms and dining areas. The log shall include the date, time and scope of each cleaning. The restaurants and dining areas are to be completely cleaned according to the protocols on these logs before each dining service at 8:00 am, 1:30 pm,4 pm and 8 pm. At the end of the night, logs will be filed.
Hand sanitizer pumps shall be made available outside the bathroom, as well as at the register. Hand washing stations are also available in the cafe restroom, behind the customer service area, in the cafe kitchen, in the meat processing room.
In the event of a confirmed Covid 19 case, we will clean the contaminated areas according to the instruction provided by CDC Guidance “Interim Guidance of Businesses and Employers Responding to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) May 2020.
